[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Citizen (Dream Tree) Reporters Group, with an 11-year history, has been newly launched as the "Opportunity Reporters Group" with the purpose of "finding and reporting on opportunities throughout Gyeonggi-do."
On the 20th, Gyeonggi-do held an inauguration ceremony under the theme "Ask the Governor" at Dodamso (the former Gyeonggi-do Governor's residence), attended by Governor Kim Dong-yeon, members of the Gyeonggi-do Citizen Reporters Group, Dream Tree Reporters Group, and a total of 48 members belonging to the Gyeonggi-do Opportunity Reporters Group.
The Opportunity Reporters Group consists of a total of 250 members, including the "Gyeonggi-do Citizen Reporters Group" made up of teenagers, university students, and the general public, and the "Gyeonggi-do Dream Tree Reporters Group," which includes children aged 11 to 13 within Gyeonggi-do.
The province combined the existing Dream Tree Reporters Group and the Citizen Reporters Group (teenagers, university students, seniors) into one and renamed it the Opportunity Reporters Group, with the intention of discovering and widely sharing various hidden opportunities throughout the opportunity capital, Gyeonggi-do.
Throughout this year, they will cover provincial administration values, major policies, and local news, producing news content tailored to various age groups, which will be shared through the official Gyeonggi-do blog, Gyeonggi News Portal, and social networking services (SNS).
Governor Kim Dong-yeon presented appointment letters to four representatives of the Opportunity Reporters Group, including children, teenagers, university students, and seniors, expressing gratitude for their participation from elementary school students to the general public, and emphasized the importance of curiosity, sensitivity, and a spirit of challenge.
Governor Kim said, "I believe curiosity is the driving force behind individual and national development. I hope you do not hide or suppress your curiosity but express it freely," and introduced, "Whenever I implement a policy, I always ask myself, 'Why are we doing this?'"
He continued, "I want to talk about sensitivity to social issues and events happening around us," explaining, "I think sustainable development is achieved by not considering various problems around us as someone else's issue but by being sensitive and responsive to them."
He also added, "I hope young students and youth continuously challenge themselves and keep trying even if they fail."
He then said, "If you carry out reporter activities with these three qualities, it will help the residents and also aid your own self-development," and urged, "I hope Gyeonggi-do becomes a place that offers many opportunities to its residents. I hope you propose ideas to create such opportunities and present the problems we need to solve from your perspective."
