[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Song Seung-seop] President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasized on the 20th that “Transparency in union accounting is the starting point of union reform.”

On the same day, President Yoon held a regular meeting with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and stated, “We have no choice but to take firm measures against acts that deny the rule of law while using thousands of billions of won in government subsidies, which are the people's tax money.” The government has announced a policy to request and investigate accounting data from the two major labor unions as part of labor reform. In response, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions criticized on the same day, "They are even damaging the Labor Union Act to attack the unions."

Prime Minister Han reported, “To achieve economic re-leap and job creation, we must rapidly create a ‘regulatory innovation → revitalization of corporate investment, virtuous cycle structure,’” and added, “At the upcoming 3rd Regulatory Innovation Strategy Meeting, we will discuss ways to foster promising new industries and resolve regulatory issues for on-site waiting corporate investment projects, and announce related measures.”

In response, President Yoon said, “In a situation where national finances are tight, the importance of regulatory innovation is greater than ever,” and mentioned, “If rice was the semiconductor of the industrialization era, data is the rice of the digital era.” He then instructed, “Since fostering new industries that will lead Korea’s future in the AI era is difficult without revitalizing the data economy, review the industrial utilization of data from a global standard perspective in a proactive manner.”
