Registered Internal Candidates Including Kwon Eun-hee, Kim Ki-yeol, Kim Sung-tae, and Kim Jong-hoon

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] KT announced that a total of 18 external candidates applied in the open competition for CEO recruitment held from February 10 to 1 PM on February 20.
The applicants include Kwon Eun-hee, former Head of KT Networks Business Division; Kim Ki-yeol, former Vice President of KTF; Kim Sung-tae, Advisory Member of the Presidential Digital Platform Government Committee; Kim Jong-hoon, former Head of Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Kim Jin-hong, former Head of KT Skylife Management Division; Kim Chang-hoon, current Adjunct Professor at Hanyang University; Nam Kyu-taek, former Head of KT Marketing Division; Park Yoon-young, former Head of KT Corporate Division; Park Jong-jin, current Vice Chairman of IHQ; Park Heon-yong, former Chairman of KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation; Song Jeong-hee, former Vice President of KT; Yoon Jong-rok, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning; Yoon Jin-sik, former Minister of Industry and Resources; Lim Heon-moon, former KT President; Choi Doo-hwan, former President of POSCO ICT; Choi Bang-seop, former Vice President of Samsung Electronics; Han Hoon, former Head of KT Management Planning Division; and Hong Seong-ran, current Anti-Money Laundering Specialist at the Ethics and Compliance Department of the Korea Development Bank, totaling 18 people.
The KT Governance Committee formed a pool of 16 internal candidates who have worked at the company or its affiliates for more than two years and hold a position of Vice President or higher according to the company's rank standards. The internal candidate pool consists of 11 KT executives currently serving: Koo Hyun-mo, current CEO; Kang Guk-hyun, Head of Customer Division; Park Jong-wook, Head of Management Planning Division; Yoon Kyung-rim, Head of Group Transformation Division; Park Byung-sam, Head of Ethics Management Office; Seo Chang-seok, Head of Network Division; Song Jae-ho, Head of AI·DX Convergence Business Division; Shin Soo-jung, Head of Enterprise Division; Shin Hyun-ok, Head of Management Support Division; Ahn Sang-don, Head of Legal Office; Woo Jung-min, Head of IT Division; and five group company executives: Kim Cheol-soo, President of KT Skylife; Yoon Dong-sik, President of KT Cloud; Jung Ki-ho, President of KT Alpha; Choi Won-seok, President of BC Card; and Hong Ki-seop, President of HCN.
Additionally, to enhance the objectivity and fairness of the CEO candidate evaluation, the Governance Committee formed a selection advisory group composed of external experts in economics, management, leadership, future industries, and law to verify candidate qualifications and narrow down internal and external candidates. However, to ensure the advisory group can conduct a fair evaluation of internal and external candidates, the detailed list of members will be disclosed on February 28.
The advisory group will conduct verification and narrowing down of internal and external candidates by next week. For external candidates, the KT Governance Committee will select interviewees by directly reflecting the advisory group’s first and second narrowing results. For internal candidates, the Governance Committee will use the advisory group’s first narrowing results to select interviewees. Subsequently, the CEO Candidate Evaluation Committee will conduct interviews based on the evaluation criteria set by the board. The board plans to finalize one CEO candidate from among those selected by the CEO Candidate Evaluation Committee.
Following the public disclosure of internal and external CEO candidate pools, the board will also transparently disclose the advisory group’s member list and the results of each evaluation stage.
