Implementation of the 'Seoul-type Medical Institution Incentive Support' Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 21st that it will implement the ‘Seoul-type Medical Institution Incentive Support’ project for 123 nursing hospitals to expand the participation of private medical institutions in public healthcare and strengthen ‘solidarity with the vulnerable.’
Seoul selected 123 nursing hospitals, which are used by high-risk groups vulnerable to infectious diseases such as COVID-19, as the first project targets this year to improve infection control, and since cooperation between private and public medical services is necessary to strengthen management, it focused on the ‘infection field’ and established systematic evaluation indicators.
Subsequently, nursing hospitals rated A in the evaluation results will receive an incentive of 50 million KRW each for 4 hospitals, B-rated 8 hospitals will receive 30 million KRW each, and C-rated 10 hospitals will receive 20 million KRW each, along with certificates issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Nursing hospitals wishing to participate in the ‘Seoul-type Medical Institution Incentive Support’ project can fill out an application form on the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Government website’ and submit it via email to the public healthcare promotion team official.
The city expects that through this ‘Seoul-type Medical Institution Incentive Support’ project, the facilities and infection control systems of nursing hospitals will be improved, enabling proactive management for the elderly population and better response to various infectious disease outbreaks in the future.
Park Yumi, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Citizen Health Bureau, said, “We hope that the newly launched ‘Seoul-type Medical Institution Incentive Support’ will help nursing hospitals become specialized in infectious disease management.” She added, “Starting with this year’s project, we will gradually expand the scope of incentive support and the selection of excellent medical institutions to enhance public healthcare and strengthen ‘solidarity with the vulnerable.’”
