[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will support monthly rent to reduce the housing burden on local young households.
On the 20th, the city announced that it will promote the "Youth Housing Rent Support Project." The project will select 100 young people who meet the support requirements and provide monthly rent support of up to 200,000 KRW for a maximum of 10 months.
The support target is young people aged 19 to 39 with resident registration in Sejong as of the announcement date, who are non-homeowners living in rental housing with a deposit of 100 million KRW or less and monthly rent of 600,000 KRW or less (85㎡ or less).
This year, the city significantly relaxed the eligibility criteria to expand participation opportunities. The eligible age range was extended from 19 to 34 years old to 19 to 39 years old, and occupational conditions excluding public officials and private school teachers, as well as the six-month residence requirement, were abolished.
The city will accept applications from April 6 to 10 through the Sejong Youth Hope Tomorrow Center website or by visiting the Youth Hope Tomorrow Center.
The final number of recruits is 100. After the application deadline, the city will verify qualifications, select and announce the recipients, and plan to support monthly rent starting in April.
For more details, refer to the announcement posted on the city’s website or contact the Sejong Youth Hope Tomorrow Center for guidance.
An Hyo-cheol, the city’s Youth Policy Officer, said, “We relaxed qualifications such as age, occupation, and residence period from this year to lower the threshold for youth housing support. We hope this can be a small but significant help to young people facing economic difficulties due to housing cost burdens.”
