[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Among social welfare facilities in the Daejeon area, 6.1 out of 10 received excellent grades in the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluation.

Daejeon City announced on the 20th that out of 103 social welfare facilities in the jurisdiction, 63 facilities received an A grade in the '2022 Ministry of Health and Welfare Social Welfare Facility Evaluation.'

The evaluation has been conducted since 1999 in accordance with the Social Welfare Services Act. The targets are 10 types of facilities, including social welfare centers and residential facilities for the disabled, with an evaluation cycle of three years. This evaluation was based on facility operation and service levels from 2019 to 2021.

All 21 social welfare centers in Daejeon received an A grade in the evaluation.

Additionally, among 19 local senior welfare centers and child care facilities, 7 received an A grade, and among 63 facilities including local vocational rehabilitation centers for the disabled, residential facilities for the disabled, and short-term residential facilities for the disabled, 5 received an A grade.

An A grade is awarded when the average score in evaluation items is 90 points or higher.

In particular, five facilities including Songgang Social Welfare Center, Seongnak Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Yuseong-gu Senior Welfare Center (all excellent facilities), Hoseang Academy, and Yeongwang Industrial Protection Workshop (both improvement facilities) were evaluated as being in the top 5% nationwide. The Ministry of Health and Welfare also provides incentives of 7 million KRW for excellent facilities and 3.5 million KRW for improvement facilities.

A city official stated, "We plan to continuously support the improvement of service quality such as facility operation so that local social welfare facilities can continue to receive good evaluations."
