According to the county on the 20th, National Route 77, which will have the Garipo Sunset Road constructed from Daesin-ri, Wando-eup to Daemun-ri, Gunoe-myeon, offers an open sea view and excellent coastal scenery with spectacular sunsets, making it ideal for driving. A budget of 4 billion KRW from the national treasury will be invested to create a 6 km stretch of sunset road.

The Garipo Sunset Road will connect Wando’s major tourist attractions, such as the Sosepo Set and the Wando Arboretum, which will be developed as the National Warm-Temperate Forest Arboretum. It plans to install photo zones, rest areas, scenic observatories, and sculptures at picturesque spots utilizing the beautiful natural scenery of the Dadohae (Korean Archipelago), which looks like a painting.

The design service will be completed by March, and facility construction will be promoted in the second half of the year, aiming for completion in 2024.

Currently, along National Route 77, there are three parks: Miso Park, Gaetbaram Park, and Sunset Park, where the coastal scenery is so outstanding that it naturally brings a smile.

Located about 8 km from Wando Public Bus Terminal, it is easily accessible, making it a great place for solo travelers (‘Honhaengjok’) and family travelers to relax while gazing at the open sea and sunset.

The county expects that the sunset road construction will restore disconnected spaces, attract tourists by linking nearby tourism resources, and create a new regional vitality hub, resulting in a space that satisfies both residents and tourists.

A county official said, “Through this project, we will create a beautiful and safe coastal walking trail and continuously discover unique tourism resources of Wando to enhance the value of tourism resources and elevate the Wando tourism brand.”

Meanwhile, on the 9th, an explanatory meeting was held at the Gunoe-myeon Office for village residents in the project target areas outside Wando-eup and Gunoe-myeon.
