[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will be the first in the nation to conduct full-scale education utilizing large-scale AI such as ‘ChatGPT’.

.

‘ChatGPT’ is one of the large-scale AI services developed by OpenAI that has caused a worldwide sensation. It is a chatbot that answers users' questions using text.

Before the full-scale ‘ChatGPT’ education, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct staff training to strengthen students' information ethics education and find ways to utilize ‘ChatGPT’ in teaching and learning activities.

The Office of Education will hold a training session titled ‘Understanding the Advantages and Disadvantages of Large-scale AI Technologies such as ChatGPT and Exploring Utilization Methods’ for about 500 education professionals and administrative staff at a webinar seminar at 2 p.m. on the 22nd. The training will be conducted in a hands-on manner with large-scale AI technologies such as ‘ChatGPT’.

Oh Jeonghoon, a scholarship officer at the Future Talent Education Division of the Office of Education, will lead the hands-on practice, explaining how to use large-scale AI for student ethics education, work, and educational material production, and assist participants with the practice.

In addition, starting from the new semester in March, the Busan Office of Education will select 40 classes from elementary and middle schools among education welfare-focused schools to provide education on ‘ChatGPT’ ethics and proper usage methods.

This education is a three-session student program linked to large-scale AI, conducted for the first time nationwide to reduce educational disparities. The Busan branch of the Korea Press Foundation will support instructors, and the program will run from mid-March to July.

The first session consists of ‘Large-scale AI Ethics Education,’ ‘Fact-checking Activities for ChatGPT Responses,’ and ‘Hands-on Practice with Large-scale AI Creative Tools.’ For the second session, schools can choose between ‘Creating a Fairy Tale with Large-scale AI’ or ‘Machine Learning Activities to Understand Large-scale AI Technology.’

The third session involves understanding, experiencing, and creating in the metaverse, allowing students to gain a comprehensive understanding of new technologies.

Ha Yunsoo, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “We have prepared staff training and student education to establish educational policies on rapidly changing new technologies, provide students with information ethics education, and support creative activities using new technologies. We will closely monitor technological developments such as ‘ChatGPT’ and promote various policies to ensure students can use new technologies healthily.”

On January 26, the Busan Office of Education held a special lecture titled ‘Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Technologies (such as ChatGPT) and the Transformation of the Educational Paradigm’ for about 1,000 teachers and education professionals, discussing the transformation of teaching and learning methods using large-scale AI technologies such as ‘ChatGPT.’
