Changwon Special City Initiates Urban Vacant House Maintenance

Recruitment of Applicants for Support Projects Until March 17

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is implementing the 'Vacant House Maintenance Support Project' to manage long-term abandoned vacant houses in urban areas and is recruiting eligible applicants.


The city has significantly increased subsidies since last year to enhance maintenance efficiency through practical financial support. For vacant houses abandoned for more than one year, up to 7 million KRW is provided for simple demolition, and up to 10 million KRW is supported if the house is maintained and utilized as public land.

Additionally, from this year, a safety measure category has been introduced, providing subsidies of up to 2 million KRW for securing vacant houses that pose safety accident or crime risks.


Applications will be accepted until March 17 at the Building Permit Division of the district office or the Administrative Welfare Center where the vacant house is located. The recruitment announcement can be found in the notice section on the city’s official website. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Housing Policy Division of Changwon Special City or the Building Permit Division of the district office.


Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Through the vacant house maintenance project addressing safety accidents and crime concerns, we will do our best to prevent accidents in advance and improve citizens’ living conditions,” and added, “We ask for the active participation and cooperation of vacant house owners.”
