Daejeon City Provides 350,000 Masks Monthly to Infection-Vulnerable Facilities

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will provide 350,000 masks per month to facilities where indoor mask-wearing remains mandatory, such as infection-vulnerable facilities.

According to the city on the 20th, since the 30th of last month, the indoor mask-wearing mandate has been changed to a recommendation in most facilities.

However, indoor mask-wearing is still mandatory in medical institutions, pharmacies, nursing hospitals and facilities, mental health promotion facilities, welfare facilities for the disabled, and public transportation.

Accordingly, the city will provide masks to visitors (those without masks) at indoor mask-wearing mandatory facilities to minimize citizen inconvenience and protect infection-vulnerable facilities.

The target facilities for support include medical institutions, nursing facilities, mental health promotion facilities, welfare facilities for the disabled, and city buses among the indoor mask-wearing mandatory facilities. However, pharmacies, taxis, and subways, where mask purchase is relatively easy, are excluded from the support.

The support will continue until the indoor mask-wearing mandate is completely lifted.

Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, “Even though the indoor mask-wearing mandate has been lifted, the stable maintenance of quarantine measures is thanks to citizens’ compliance with personal quarantine rules,” adding, “However, COVID-19 remains a dangerous infectious disease, and vaccination is recommended for high-risk groups such as the elderly for a complete return to normal life.”
