[Joining One Day Ten Thousand Steps] Choi Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor

"Walking" is one of the simplest and most fundamental things we do throughout our lives, whether we are conscious of it or not. Just as we cannot live without air and cannot survive even if our heart stops for a moment, walking is an essential part of our lives that cannot be separated from us.


Whether walking for daily life or for exercise, being able to walk is a blessing and something to be grateful for. Especially if you are thinking about walking for your health, why not join the "One Day Ten Thousand Steps, One Day Thousand Characters Movement" promoted by Asia Economy?


Yeongdeungpo-gu is the only district among the 25 districts of Seoul that has no mountains. This might be a bit disappointing for those who maintain their health through hiking, but on the other hand, it boasts abundant waterfront resources such as the Han River, Saetgang, Anyangcheon, and Dorimcheon, making it an ideal district for maintaining health through walking.


Yeongdeungpo-gu also operates a free year-round walking tour program where you can walk along five courses ? Yeongdeungpo modern culture, Mullae Creative Village, Yeouido architecture, Han River waterways, and Seonyudo Park ? with a tour guide, listening to stories about the history and culture related to these landmarks. This program offers not just simple walking but also healing from the tiredness of daily life and meaningful time.


Additionally, if you participate in the smart healthcare "Wrist Doctor 9988" program, a mobile health project using ICT, and combine it with walking exercise, the effects are expected to multiply. As the district mayor, I also believe that the answer lies in the field, so I actively engage on the ground, meeting residents directly, listening to their various wishes, and finding problems and solutions.


People walk continuously from birth until the end of life. Walking is proof of being alive. I recommend joining the "walking exercise," which is the easiest and fastest way to take care of your health in everyday life rather than grand exercises.
