One-on-One Online Mentoring Between Current Samsung Electronics Employees and Young Job Seekers
A platform for communication such as career counseling through non-face-to-face meetings with current employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will start the ‘Youth Employment Mentoring’ program from March, providing job consulting and career counseling through the talent donation of current Samsung Electronics employees for young people seeking employment.
The ‘Youth Employment Mentoring’ program matches mentors and mentees 1:1 and allows communication on various topics such as company and job information, workplace life, and career concerns in a comfortable atmosphere without a fixed format via non-face-to-face (Zoom) regardless of location.
Since 2015, the district has promoted the employment mentoring project, conducting a total of 62 mentoring sessions, with 484 young people participating as mentees. There have been cases where young people who participated in the mentoring successfully found employment.
This year, the program will start on March 11 and continue on the second Saturday of every month until November. Participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis until two weeks before the start, and anyone who is a university student or unemployed youth is eligible. Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form posted in the youth section under Specialized Information on the Gwanak-gu Office website and sending it to the person in charge via email.
A district official said, “We hope that the employment mentoring will provide practical information to young people preparing for employment and become a platform for communication to resolve career concerns together with mentors,” adding, “We will continue to operate various employment support programs for young job seekers in the future.”
