HD Hyundai Abicus Accelerates Targeting of Largest Leisure Boat Market in the US

Participating in the 'Miami International Boat Show'... Showcasing Differentiated Technology in the USA

Abicus, a ship autonomous navigation specialist company under HD Hyundai, is participating in the Miami International Boat Show in the United States, introducing the leisure boat autonomous navigation solution 'NeuBoat' to visitors at the exhibition booth.

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Avikus, a ship autonomous navigation specialist company under HD Hyundai, showcased differentiated technology in the field of ship autonomous navigation at the world’s largest boat show, the Miami International Boat Show.

From the 15th to the 19th, during the five-day boat show held in Florida, USA, Avikus conducted a customer survey targeting more than 100,000 visitors. Additionally, they recruited beta test participants for their leisure boat autonomous navigation solution, NeuBoat.

Selected beta testers will be given the opportunity to experience NeuBoat, which is scheduled for commercial release in the second half of the year, ahead of others. Avikus engineers will personally visit customers to install NeuBoat on their leisure boats and provide support for testing. Recruitment is limited to residents in the United States, and the trial period is three months.

Im Dohyung, CEO of Avikus, stated, “NeuBoat is already the most advanced autonomous leisure boat solution in the world. Through this beta test, we aim to promote NeuBoat and actively target the U.S. market, which accounts for more than 60% of the global boat market.”

Furthermore, on the 15th local time in Miami, Avikus agreed to a multi-year exclusive partnership with Raymarine, a global top-tier boat electronics company. The two companies plan to sign a cooperation agreement in March and will collaborate to launch the world’s first autonomous leisure boat solution, “Raymarine X Avikus NeuBoat,” which integrates Avikus’s NeuBoat with Raymarine’s navigation equipment. At this boat show, they are also jointly promoting by sharing each other’s exhibition content and setting up combined booths.

Meanwhile, NeuBoat is a compound word of “Neuron,” meaning nerve cell, and “Boat.” It signifies that Avikus’s AI autonomous navigation solution installed on the vessel will play a central role by autonomously recognizing, judging, and controlling various maritime environments like human nerve cells. It offers various functions that enhance the customer experience for boat users, including autonomous navigation system (NAS), autonomous docking and undocking system (DAS), and even recommending the perfect sunset viewing spots.
