Yangcheon-gu Conducts Intensive Safety Inspections at Construction Sites in Preparation for Thaw Season

Joint inspection by external experts and public-private cooperation on two housing construction sites until the 3rd of next month

Focused inspection on ground subsidence around construction sites, collapse and deformation of temporary structures, and establishment of emergency contact systems

After inspection, emergency measures will be taken and separate countermeasures and safety measures will be prepared according to the risk level of disaster occurrence

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will conduct a joint intensive safety inspection with external experts and public-private cooperation on housing construction sites until the 3rd of next month to prevent safety accidents caused by temperature changes during the thawing season.

The inspection targets are two street housing maintenance project construction sites in Sinwol-dong and Sinjeong-dong. The district formed a joint inspection team composed of the responsible department, architects, and structural engineers to ensure effectiveness.

Especially during February and March, when the ground freezes and begins to thaw, soil erosion, falling rocks, collapse, and subsidence are likely to occur, so the plan is to proactively inspect risk factors on site to prevent safety accidents.

The public-private joint inspection team plans to focus on inspecting ▲subsidence around construction sites and collapse and deformation of temporary structures ▲appropriateness of drainage installation ▲compliance with safety management rules and establishment of emergency contact systems on site.

The inspection period is until the 3rd of next month. Minor issues that can be corrected on site will be immediately addressed. If serious defects or risk factors are found, strict follow-up supervision will be conducted, including safety management reinforcement measures such as immediate work stoppage orders, emergency repair and reinforcement work, prohibition of use, and preparation of separate supplementary measures.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "The thawing season is the time when construction delayed during winter resumes in earnest, and the risk of major accidents such as soil collapse and ground subsidence due to ground softening is very high. Through this intensive inspection, we will carefully manage to prevent major risk factors during the thawing season in advance and create a safe construction environment."
