[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, reportedly watched a sports game with his child Kim Ju-ae and his younger sister Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers' Party, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 18th.
According to the report, Chairman Kim watched a sports game held the previous day between employees of the Cabinet and the Ministry of Defense to commemorate the birthday of Kim Jong-il (the Day of the Shining Star). This is the sixth time Kim Ju-ae, Kim's daughter, has appeared in an official setting, and the first time she has appeared at an event unrelated to military matters.
The Korean Central News Agency stated, "All participants cherished this moment today, commemorating the meaningful spring festival of February, filled with joy and excitement, having the beloved Comrade Kim Jong-un and his dear child gathered in one place." When Kim Ju-ae first appeared, she was introduced as the "beloved child," and since then expressions such as "honorable" and "respected" have been used.
Meanwhile, on this day, Chairman Kim and Kim Ju-ae sat in the center of the viewing seats, while Deputy Director Kim sat at the edge of the back row, highlighting the difference in status. Also attending the game were North Korean Premier Kim Tok-hun and Organization Secretary Jo Yong-won, while Kim Jong-un's wife, Ri Sol-ju, was not seen.
