Additional Securing of Complex Logistics Sites to Resolve Congestion Issues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 17th that it has commenced the expansion construction of the eastern and western hinterland complexes of Gwangyang Port.
This project aims to enhance the utilization of idle or underutilized public land within the Gwangyang Port hinterland complex by converting facilities such as green spaces, parks, parking lots, and roads into complex logistics and manufacturing facility sites, following changes to the port hinterland development plan.

The construction period is 12 months, with completion scheduled for the first half of 2024. Approximately 200,000㎡ of additional complex logistics land will be created to establish a mixed industrial space where companies within the hinterland complex can further settle.
YGPA also plans to start the 'Gwangyang Port North Hinterland Complex Construction,' an additional hinterland development project, in June to resolve the shortage of hinterland land.
Choi Sang-heon, Vice President (Head of Development Business Division), stated, "We will actively strive to improve the operational efficiency of the hinterland complex by using the expansion construction of the Gwangyang Port hinterland as a cornerstone," adding, "As this is the first construction project of the year, we will do our best to achieve completion with zero accidents."
