Yeo Standing Advisory Group: "Party Leader Candidates Should Strengthen Policy Debates Rather Than Competition"

"Democratic Party, Legislative Dictatorship Is Parliamentary Violence"
Advice That the Party Convention Should Be Held to Solidify the General Election Base

[Asia Economy Reporters Hyunju Lee and Boryeong Geum] At the People Power Party's Standing Advisory Council, opinions were expressed that policy debates should take precedence over competition among candidates ahead of the March 8 party convention.

On the 17th, after the Standing Advisory Council meeting, People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Jeong Jin-seok told reporters, "While competition among candidates is inevitable, it would be good if policy visions are faithfully conveyed to voters. There was a suggestion that policy vision debates should be strengthened."

Chairman Jeong added, "The candidates are too rigid," and said, "There was also a comment that it would be good if they could show a brighter expression to party members."

Regarding the Democratic Party, Chairman Jeong said, "There were many concerns," and stated, "The recent behavior of the Democratic Party in the legislature and their legislative dictatorship is nothing but a parliamentary outrage." He also said, "There were many concerns that it feels like watching a lawless parliament where dialogue and compromise have disappeared, as they bypass the Legislation and Judiciary Committee (Law Committee) and recklessly refer bills directly to the plenary session."

Senior Spokesperson Park Jeong-ha of the People Power Party added, "Some say that not much has been felt since the regime changed. Therefore, there were criticisms that innovation and inspiration are lacking, so please keep that in mind," and continued, "There was advice to hold the party convention well so that the party can show itself as a one-million-member party without aftereffects, and to build the party well from now on so that it can be the foundation for the general election and impress the public."
