[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Cell Biotech announced on the 17th that its sales last year reached 50.5 billion KRW, an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous year. Operating profit recorded 6.3 billion KRW, down 13.6%, and net profit was 9.7 billion KRW, a decrease of 6.8%.

The company explained, "Despite a challenging market environment with intensified competition, the scale expanded due to increased overseas exports; however, operating profit and net profit decreased due to increased brand investment and marketing expenses."

Overseas export sales grew by 31% compared to the previous year. It is analyzed that stable sales were driven by the development of new overseas channels and marketing investments. The "Korean-made probiotics" developed by Cell Biotech have been recognized for their excellent quality and safety and are exported to more than 40 countries worldwide, including Denmark, the pioneer country of probiotics. The company has ranked first for nine consecutive years among domestic probiotic export companies.

A Cell Biotech official stated, "We expect continuous sales growth through the launch of various new products of 'DUOLAC,' which uses 100% Korean-made probiotics, and the successful launch of the new nutrition brand 'DUOLAB.' As a microbiome-specialized company, we will simultaneously promote domestic and international sales growth and the expansion of the microbiome business based on accumulated research and technological capabilities."
