Goal to Expand Autonomy of Local Government Organizations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the 17th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety held the 1st meeting of the 'Special Task Force (TF) for Improvement of Autonomous Organization System' in the conference room of the Korea Association of Governors.
The Special Task Force (TF) for system improvement is a meeting body established to prepare measures to expand the autonomous organizational authority of local governments, as discussed at the 3rd Central-Local Cooperation Meeting. At the first meeting held this time, organizational departments from 17 cities and provinces, private experts, and the four major local councils gathered for in-depth discussions.
The Special Task Force (TF) for system improvement plans to prepare measures to expand autonomous organizational authority through comprehensive reviews on securing autonomy and accountability in local government organization management, and submit the agenda to the Central-Local Cooperation Meeting.
Ahn Seung-dae, Director of the Local Autonomy Policy Division at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, emphasized, "It is necessary to expand the organizational autonomy of local governments to promote policies in the local era," and stated, "The central and local governments will work together to devise reasonable improvement plans that ensure operational efficiency and accountability to residents."
