[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Naver's paid content platform 'Premium Contents' has reached its 1st anniversary since launch.
Premium Contents is a paid content platform where creators can easily attempt to sell content on Naver, and users can discover and subscribe to various content. It started beta service in May 2021 and was officially launched in February last year.
Starting with 20 channels in beta service, currently more than 1,100 channels are active on 'Premium Contents.' The topics range from practical subjects such as economy, real estate, and financial technology to cartoons, hobbies, and learning. The cumulative number of published contents has exceeded 100,000.
Over the past year, Premium Contents subscribers increased by 170%, and the monthly content transaction amount grew more than tenfold. Channels earning hundreds of millions of won in monthly sales through Premium Contents have also emerged. There are cases where content serialized on Premium Contents channels is published as books, expanding their business models.
Kim Eun-jung, Naver leader in charge of 'Premium Contents,' said, "While the past year was a time to confirm the potential of the paid content market, going forward, we plan to discover various successful creator cases and foster a culture where individual creators' content is also paid for, striving to grow the paid content market."
