Handok Jesuk Foundation Donates 150 Million KRW in Medical Scholarships and Research Grants

[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] The Handok Jesuk Foundation has awarded scholarships and research grants to students enrolled in medical and pharmacy schools, as well as to medical and pharmaceutical professors.


On the 16th, the Handok Jesuk Foundation held the "16th Handok Jesuk Foundation Scholarship and Research Grant Award Ceremony" at the Handok Future Complex in Magok, Seoul, and announced on the 17th that it had awarded a total of 150 million KRW in scholarships and research grants to 15 recipients, including medical and pharmacy students, scholarship students from the South-North Health and Medical Education Foundation, and medical and pharmaceutical professors.

The Handok Jesuk Foundation selects medical and pharmacy students annually through its scholarship program and provides full scholarships. Additionally, it supports scholarships for North Korean defectors majoring in health and medical fields, selected upon recommendation from the South-North Health and Medical Education Foundation. Research funds are also provided to medical and pharmaceutical professors and researchers selected based on outstanding research projects and achievements.


At the award ceremony, scholarships were presented to a total of eight students, including existing Handok Jesuk Foundation scholarship recipients. Each selected student received a scholarship of 2 million KRW.


Research grants were also awarded to two professors in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. In the medical field, Professor Jiyoon Kim of the Catholic University College of Medicine was selected for her research project titled "Development of a Cell Organelle-Based Alzheimer's Disease Therapeutic Drug Evaluation Platform" and received a research grant of 30 million KRW. In the pharmacy field, Professor Seunghyun Jeong of Suncheon National University College of Pharmacy was selected for his research proposal on "Scientific Clinical Usage Exploration and Improvement of Efficacy and Safety of Pharmaceuticals Based on Pharmacometric Modeling" and received a research grant of 30 million KRW.


Kim Youngjin, Chairman of the Handok Jesuk Foundation, stated, "We will continue to do our best to support students and researchers who will lead a healthy future and contribute to the development of the medical and pharmaceutical fields."


The Handok Jesuk Foundation is a public interest corporation established by the late Chairman Shinkwon Kim, the founder of Handok, and Handok. It engages in social contribution activities including cultural and educational activities through the Handok Medical Museum, Korea's first specialized museum, as well as scholarship programs and research support activities for the advancement of the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
