[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] After more than three years since the COVID-19 pandemic, large-scale incentive travel groups are visiting Incheon.
Incheon City and the Incheon Tourism Organization announced on the 17th that about 2,000 incentive travel groups from Taiwan and Thailand will visit Incheon by June.
First, starting from the 19th, 350 employees of a Taiwanese global automobile company will visit Incheon in about 10 separate groups. They plan to stay at the Songdo Kyungwonjae Hotel and visit Geumpung Brewery, a Makgeolli experience center located in Ganghwa.
Then, in June, about 400 employees of a Taiwanese health food company will tour the 'Unique Venue' tourist sites in Incheon and hold their own event using the Hyundai cruise ship.
A Unique Venue refers to a place that includes differentiated spaces and facilities that showcase the distinctive charm of a MICE host city, rather than traditional MICE facilities such as exhibition and convention centers or hotels.
From April to June, about 1,300 employees of a Thai global marketing company and a food company will visit Incheon sequentially. They will stay at hotels in Incheon for all 3 nights and 4 days of their itinerary and visit tourist attractions such as Wolmi Sea Train and Jeondeungsa Temple in Ganghwa.
Since last year, the city and the organization have been discovering MICE event venues differentiated from other regions, such as Incheon's Unique Venues, and have developed and promoted customized tour courses tailored to the characteristics of visiting groups, successfully attracting several incentive travel groups since early this year.
Both organizations plan to diversify MICE infrastructure in line with new MICE trends and actively promote marketing in the global MICE market going forward.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We will actively discover Incheon's unique Unique Venues and provide customized support to ensure the successful hosting of various MICE events," adding, "Based on this, we plan to actively attract incentive travel groups from various countries such as Singapore and Indonesia in the future."
