Global Market Entry Including the US, Japan, Canada, and Europe Alongside Domestic Release in Late February
Three Societies Distillery announced on the 17th that it will release the first regular batch of Korea's first single malt whiskey, 'Giwon,' on the 25th.
The single malt whiskey 'Giwon' is Korea's first single malt whiskey produced entirely through saccharification, fermentation, distillation, and aging processes within Korea's four seasons. The upcoming regular product, 'Giwon Whiskey Batch 1,' is a whiskey aged in virgin American oak and bottled at 700mL with 40% alcohol by volume. Batch 1 features rich oak and caramel notes along with a uniquely Korean spicy finish, and each batch will showcase different casks to present varied characteristics.
Dojeong Han, CEO of Three Societies, stated, "We have created a world-class single malt whiskey with Korean characteristics, and to introduce Giwon Whiskey to whiskey enthusiasts worldwide, it will be sequentially exported from March to global whiskey markets including the United States, Japan, Canada, and Europe, as well as domestically."
Domestic sales will begin on the 25th at the Three Societies Distillery located in Namyangju, where Batch 1 and a distillery-exclusive cask strength product (57.7% ABV) will be sold in a limited quantity of 150 bottles. Afterwards, the whiskey will be available through online and offline channels such as Daily Shot, Wine & More, Homeplus, CU, and GS25. Further details will be provided via Three Societies' social media channels.
