Gangbuk-gu Launches the '4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival 2023 Committee'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) held the launch ceremony of the '4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival 2023 Committee' on the 16th and began full-scale preparations for the '4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival.'


The 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival is a festival to share the foundation of democracy in the Republic of Korea, the April 19 Revolution, with the entire nation, marking its 11th anniversary this year.


About 20 people attended the launch ceremony, including Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Jeong Joong-seop, President of the 4·19 Revolution Victims' Families Association, Park Hoon, President of the 4·19 Revolution Meritorious Persons Association, and other committee members and related officials.


The launch ceremony proceeded in the order of progress report, committee launch declaration, congratulatory speeches, program report, and opinion hearing. Afterwards, participants visited the National 4·19 Democratic Cemetery’s Memorial Tower to pay their respects and concluded the event.


The district will hold the 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival from April 8 to 19 at the National 4·19 Democratic Cemetery and throughout Gangbuk-gu. Various programs will be operated, including new events such as a memorial concert at the National 4·19 Democratic Cemetery and a nationwide cartoon contest.


The district will recruit citizens to participate in the 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival programs starting in March, including the nationwide cartoon contest, nationwide student drawing and writing competitions, and a nationwide university student debate contest. Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “We will do our best together with the three 4·19 Revolution public law organizations and related institutions such as the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to establish the 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival as a nationwide patriotic cultural event. We will also make every effort to ensure safety management so that many citizens can enjoy the urban festival.”
