TaylorMade Drivers, Woods, Irons, and Wedges
Putter is Scotty Cameron, Ball is Bridgestone B X
“Golf Emperor” Tiger Woods (USA, photo) is making his return to the field after 7 months, but what clubs will he use?
The PGA Tour website introduced the “weapons” Woods equipped at the Genesis Invitational (total prize money $20 million), which opened on the 16th (local time) at Riviera Country Club (par 71, 7,322 yards) in Palisades near Los Angeles, California. Woods is the host of the tournament. This is a “big match” that has attracted attention as Woods is appearing in an official tournament for the first time in 7 months since participating in the major Open last July.
Woods came out with TaylorMade golf clubs. He took out a TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver (9 degrees). In addition, he added a SIM Titanium 3-wood (14.25 degrees) and an M3 5-wood (18.25 degrees). He also packed TaylorMade’s 2020 models: P770 3-iron and P7TW (4-PW) irons, as well as MG3 low wedges (56 degrees, 60 degrees) in his bag.
For his putter, he used a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS prototype blade. This “special assistant” has led him to 14 of his 15 major wins since 1999 and 66 of his 82 career wins. It features a tri-sol design with eye-catching red lettering. The slight wear just above the sweet spot is impressive.
The golf ball is a Bridgestone Tour B X. Until last year, Woods used the Tour B XS but switched to the B X to increase distance. The Tour B X is firmer, has a lower trajectory, and less spin than the Tour B XS, resulting in slightly longer distance.
