Naju City Donates Relief Funds for Turkey and Syria Disaster Recovery

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Public officials of Naju City Hall in Jeollanam-do and local companies recently gathered their warmth little by little to help refugees from T?rkiye and Syria who suffered great damage from the recent earthquake.

The city announced on the 16th that it plans to donate 10 million KRW raised through a special fundraising campaign by public officials for earthquake damage recovery.

On the same day, local company Daehan Food Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Yoon-kyung) donated 100 boxes of their cup nurungji (scorched rice) worth about 2 million KRW, and Gwangil Food Co., Ltd. (Chairman Jo Moon-ho) contributed 50 boxes of baguette snacks worth 2 million KRW and 1 million KRW in donations to support the emergency relief for the refugees.

The donations will be delivered through the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, and the sponsored goods will be directly shipped to the Embassy of T?rkiye to be distributed as relief supplies for the refugees.

CEO Han Yoon-kyung said, “We hope that Korean nurungji, which can provide nutrition without any special cooking process, will be a comforting gift to soothe the painful hearts and hunger of the people of the two countries.”

Chairman Jo Moon-ho also said, “After hearing the news of the earthquake damage, I wanted to offer some help on behalf of Naju to the refugees who lost their homes and are starving.”

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “I hope the warm sincerity of city employees and the two company representatives will help the speedy recovery of the refugees from T?rkiye and Syria.”
