Gyeonggi-do Conducts Emergency Safety Inspections at 10 Construction Sites During Thawing Season Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections at 10 construction sites in 10 locations within the province, including Guri.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that from the 20th to the 24th, it will carry out a "Safety Inspection of Apartment Construction Sites during the Thawing Period" at 10 construction sites in 7 regions: Guri, Icheon, Yangju, Suwon, Hwaseong, Siheung, and Anyang.

This inspection will be conducted together with private experts in the fields of civil engineering (soil), architecture, and construction safety.

The main inspection items by field include ▲ the construction status of vulnerable work types to safety accidents during the thawing period such as earth retaining temporary structures ▲ the appropriateness of installation of temporary structures such as formwork and props and concrete quality management ▲ and other on-site safety management conditions.

Sites not subject to this inspection will be inspected independently by the respective city or county. Additionally, if private experts are needed, assistance can be obtained from Gyeonggi Province's quality inspection and technical advisory committee members.

The province plans to immediately address urgent or minor issues on-site based on the inspection results, and notify the relevant city or county of issues requiring follow-up measures such as repairs or reinforcements to ensure completion within a few days.

Park Jong-geun, head of the Apartment Division of the province, stated, "As construction resumes after being halted during winter, the risk of accidents increases, so thorough inspections are necessary," and added, "To establish a safety culture early at construction sites, we will strengthen safety inspections not only during disaster-vulnerable periods but also during quality inspections of 'in-progress framework construction' at each complex."
