Applied Starting from the LPGA Drive On Championship in March
'Top 70 → 65.'
The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour has changed the number of players advancing to the main tournament (cut sizes). On the 15th (local time), the LPGA Tour announced, "We have changed the tournament 'cut off' criteria," stating, "After 36 holes, the top 65 players (including ties), not the top 70, will advance to the main tournament."
The new policy will be applied starting from the LPGA Drive On Championship (total prize money $1.75 million), the first full-field 72-hole tournament of the year, held on the 23rd of next month at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club (par 72, 6,526 yards) in Gold Canyon, Arizona, USA.
Tommy Tangtiphabundit, Senior Vice President of LPGA Tour Operations, said, "This new rule will provide more opportunities for one-way tee offs," adding, "It is expected to help speed up the pace of play."
