Gurye-gun Hosts Sansuyu Flower Festival for the First Time in 4 Years

Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival Opens on March 11

Striving to Establish as a Premier Spring Flower Destination

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun held the 24th Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival detailed promotion plan meeting on the 13th at the Gurye-gun Office Situation Room, attended by 13 members of the Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival Promotion Committee, and finalized the festival program.

The 24th Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival, held for the first time in four years, will be held under the theme "In Search of Eternal Love" from 6 p.m. on March 11 to the 19th at the Jirisan Hot Springs Tourist Area in Sandong-myeon and the Sansuyu cluster village area.

This year’s festival expects more visitors than usual, so it plans to focus more on traffic and safety to ensure no inconvenience to tourists, and will carry out a total of about 40 programs including performances, experiences, and sales.

In the pre-ceremony performance, the Wonchon Elementary School Children's Choir and the Gurye Choir, composed of adults, will sing the Sansuyu logo song "Gurye’s Sansuyu," and the Honam Women’s Nongak performance, registered as an intangible cultural asset of Jeollanam-do last year, will also be presented.

The opening performance will feature trot singer Jang Min-ho, who ranked in the top 6 of TV Chosun’s "Mr. Trot 2," trot’s Black Pearl Park Hae-shin, MBN Chosun Pan Star winner and Gurye native singer Kim San-ok, and Gurye’s representative singer Lee Jung-ok.

Additionally, there will be "Our Neighborhood Busker" performances planned and performed by local youth and teenagers, busking team performances selected through a nationwide contest, a trot singer special performance "Let’s Disco" featuring singers from Gurye, and a national intangible cultural asset Nongak performance.

During the festival, a "Kids Day" will be operated for children. For this, a rest area where visitors can comfortably enjoy the Sansuyu flowers has also been created.

Theme performances such as magic shows and bubble shows will be held for families with children and local daycare and kindergarten children to provide fun and memorable experiences for the kids.

A representative experience program is the "Sansuyu Fruit Peeling Contest," where participants separate the seeds and pulp of Sansuyu berries.

This will be conducted as a tourist participation event, with rankings and souvenirs awarded to winners.

The Sansuyu Flower Path walking program consists of three themes.

These include the family walking program "Sansuyu Family Walk," the "Sansuyu Flower Path - Small Steps for the Earth" program encouraging daily walking, and the "Love and Healing Road" program, a barrier-free walking course for tourism-vulnerable groups.

Walking challenge events through the mobile app "WalkOn" and linked events using the "Mobile Stamp Tour" for nearby tourist attractions will also be promoted.

Participants who complete the programs will receive small souvenirs.

Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "We are thoroughly preparing the festival for tourists who have waited for four years. Starting with the Sansuyu flowers, the heralds of spring, I hope everyone enjoys the spring atmosphere of Gurye by walking along the flower paths throughout the spring, including Hwaeomsa Hongmaehwa, Gurye 300-ri cherry blossoms, and Seomjingang mustard flowers."
