[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The research project for promoting Gyeonggi Province's 'GTX Plus' has entered the final countdown.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th, "We plan to conduct a bid for the research project to establish the basic concept of the metropolitan area express railroad (GTX) Plus line within February," adding, "The cost for this project is 1.05 billion KRW, and the project duration is one year."

'GTX Plus' is a plan to connect the entire metropolitan area within a 30-minute living zone by establishing new D, E, and F lines in areas that do not benefit from the existing GTX A, B, and C lines, thereby bringing the entire metropolitan area under the influence of GTX.

The province plans to design the optimal routes through expert consultations and forums, and the route plan established through the project will be continuously coordinated with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to be reflected in the future '5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan.'

Park Jae-young, Director of the Railroad Policy Division, said, "The establishment of additional GTX lines is recognized as necessary by both the government and all political parties, so we expect it to proceed quickly," adding, "We will establish a thorough plan to ensure it is reflected in the government’s plan."

Meanwhile, the province recently completed an organizational restructuring, including establishing a GTX team and increasing staff, to actively promote GTX Plus.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized the importance of GTX Plus at a National Assembly forum, stating, "Only the population directly affected by GTX Plus accounts for 25% of the entire nation," highlighting the significance of GTX Plus.
