Four Men from Incheon 'Dine and Dash' on 200,000 Won Lamb Chops... Owner Asks for Tips

Four Men Disappeared Without Paying for Lamb Ribs
Owner and Police Express Frustration
"Please Pay Before Contacting Police"

The owner of a restaurant in Incheon has sparked controversy after revealing that a group of customers skipped out on a bill worth about 200,000 won for lamb ribs. The owner, who personally collected all the evidence, raised concerns about the police response.

On the 11th, a post titled "Got Stood Up on Lamb Ribs" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, who runs a lamb rib restaurant in Cheongna, Incheon, stated that on the 3rd, four men dined at his restaurant and left without paying a bill totaling 202,000 won.

He reported the incident to the police after learning about it late and requested that they check the payment records of a convenience store next to the restaurant, which is presumed to have been used by the group involved in the dine-and-dash.

However, Mr. A expressed frustration with the police response. According to him, the officers who visited the restaurant initially only tried to take the bottles of alcohol ordered by the dine-and-dash group, and only after he asked, "Shouldn't you also take the utensils?" did they collect the tableware.

Mr. A also claimed that he requested the police to check the CCTV footage of the convenience store next door, but no significant investigation was conducted.

Ultimately, he visited the convenience store himself, explained the situation, and confirmed the payment records, which showed the group’s 'Pay' transaction. He also secured CCTV footage capturing the group entering another store.

The CCTV footage he released shows four men wearing green padded jackets and white jumpers hurriedly putting on their outerwear and leaving after finishing their meal.

When Mr. A contacted the police again urging a swift investigation with the evidence, he was told, "Please wait. We cannot investigate only the case related to Mr. A. It will take a long time." When he asked again, "It will take a long time?" the response was, "Yes, it will take a long time."

He criticized, "The police in our country do nothing. Only the police officers came, but no investigators showed up," adding, "I had to find all the evidence myself. When I asked them to check the payment records I found, they just told me to wait."

He also expressed regret, saying, "The convenience store’s recorded footage could be deleted suddenly. Yet the police said, 'It’s only been a week,' and as a victim, they didn’t say a single reassuring word."

Furthermore, he appealed, "In this day and age, there are still dine-and-dash cases. Please report if you have any information. All payment records have been confirmed. I hope they come and pay before the police contact them."

Netizens who saw this news left comments such as "Stay strong, owner, and make sure you get paid," "It seems like there are more people like this these days," and "In this era full of CCTV, a dine-and-dash?" Some also comforted Mr. A by saying, "There are procedures for everything. There are official document approval processes to view CCTV, and the police also have difficulties."
