Ulju-gun Operates Science Education Programs Visiting Schools

Science Classes and 4th Industrial Revolution Creative Convergence Education Starting in April

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, is operating science education that visits schools for local students.

This education is implemented to provide Ulju-gun students with the basic competencies to quickly respond to the changing trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution and to grow into specialized talents in the field of science.

With support from the county, the Southeast Science Creativity Promotion Center (Ulsan University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation) plans to operate it on consignment.

The education consists of two programs: 'Visiting Science Classroom,' a science field experiential education, and 'Visiting 4th Industrial Revolution Creative Convergence Education,' which strengthens basic software capabilities.

In particular, the newly launched creative convergence education this year is an in-depth software education designed to minimize the digital education gap.

'Visiting Science Classroom' will be conducted for 3,200 students from 10 elementary and middle schools each and one special school, and 'Visiting 4th Industrial Revolution Creative Convergence Education' will target 300 students from 12 elementary schools.

Each education program is composed mainly of self-directed experiments and practical activities to enhance creativity, and provides an opportunity to experience scientific teaching aids not available at schools, offering an effect of in-depth learning beyond the curriculum.

Moreover, it provides customized science experiment opportunities for disabled students, who are educationally and culturally marginalized, contributing to healing behavioral disorders, emotional stability, and cognitive development.

Ulju-gun plans to receive applications from schools wishing to participate next month, select target schools, and conduct visiting science education starting in April.

A county official said, "We hope this education will be an opportunity for students to develop interest in science and acquire diverse scientific knowledge," adding, "We will continue to provide various education and support so that students can grow into responsible members of society."
