Strengthening Club Capabilities through Resource Circulation Facility Tours and Professional Training... Recruiting New Members until the 17th
Promoting Public-Private Cooperative Recycling Projects such as Transparent PET Bottle Deposit System and Dedicated Recycling Bag Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is leading the spread of a proper recycling disposal culture by fostering a ‘Resource Circulation Club’ that raises residents’ awareness of recycling separation and encourages voluntary participation.
The ‘Resource Circulation Club’ is a resident-led resource circulation group formed in September last year that helps residents practice recycling on their own through recycling-related projects and promotions, and informs neighbors about proper separation and disposal culture.
Last year, the ‘Transparent PET Bottle Deposit System,’ which exchanges transparent PET bottles for volume-based waste bags, was implemented, collecting 12 tons (about 300,000 pieces) of clean transparent PET bottles and inducing voluntary participation from about 8,000 residents.
This year, the club’s capabilities will be strengthened through resource circulation facility tours, professional instructor training, and meetings, and public-private joint recycling projects will continue by conducting ▲Transparent PET Bottle Deposit System ▲Dedicated Recycling Bag Usage Promotion Campaign.
Additionally, the Resource Circulation Club will be reorganized with up to 15 members per neighborhood, recruiting new members until the 17th.
Any resident interested in recycling and resource circulation can participate, and those wishing to join can inquire at their local neighborhood community center.
Meanwhile, Gwanak-gu is making continuous efforts to practice zero waste through various separation and disposal projects such as ▲strengthening the day-based separation of transparent PET bottles and waste vinyl in single-family houses and commercial areas ▲distributing recycling collection stands in multi-family, one-room, and row houses ▲providing visiting resource circulation experience classes for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools.
A district official said, “We expect that active activities of the Resource Circulation Club will lead to a noticeable reduction in waste for residents,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a resource circulation city, Gwanak, through various projects such as daily recycling separation.”
