The Songpa Branch Environmental Public Officials (Branch Chief Choi Myung-jin), consisting of 123 officials, voluntarily contributed a portion of their monthly salaries as part of their social contribution to practice warm sharing for neighbors in need within the community.
Since 2012, they have participated annually in the ‘Warm Winter’ fundraising activities to share warmth with marginalized neighbors. They have also actively engaged in continuous community service activities such as flood recovery and helping underprivileged neighbors.
The funds collected through the Environmental Public Officials’ donations will be used for various local welfare enhancement projects, including livelihood, medical, and housing support for low-income residents.
Since last November, the district has been promoting the ‘2023 Warm Winter’ project in cooperation with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to help neighbors in need and spread a culture of giving. As of the 8th, about one week before the project’s end date, donations and goods worth over 2.45 billion won have been received, achieving 115% of the target amount ahead of schedule.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the Environmental Public Officials who work hard to keep the city clean and practice love for neighbors,” and added, “We will continue to carry out meticulous administration so that marginalized neighbors around us do not lose hope.”
