Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and Yeongam County Sign Agreement for Relocation of Yeongam Public Library

Strengthening Reading Education and Establishing Hub Libraries for Environmental Education

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 13th that it has signed a business agreement with Yeongam County and Yeongam Public Library for the relocation of Yeongam Public Library.

On this day, the business agreement was newly signed at Yeongam County Office with the attendance of Superintendent Kim Dae-jung, County Governor Woo Seung-hee, and officials from both institutions, regarding the relocation of Yeongam Public Library to the Gyodong District in Yeongam-eup, a site designated for urban development planning.

The construction site will be built on a 5,100㎡ cultural facility site within the district, with a total building floor area of 3,200㎡. A total project cost of 19.1 billion KRW will be invested, and the library is scheduled to open in 2026. The adjacent small park and parking lot (3,426㎡) will be jointly used with Yeongam County.

Originally, the relocation of Yeongam Public Library was planned for the Gichan Land site in Yeongam-eup, but based on residents' feedback considering user accessibility, the location was changed to the Gyodong District, an urban development project site, and construction is being promoted accordingly.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, “We will strive to make Yeongam Public Library a happiness power plant that provides opportunities for education and cultural enjoyment to local residents as a representative library of Jeonnam.”
