Announcement of 5 Major Strategies and 10 Key Tasks Related to Economic Policy

On the 13th, Hong Taeyong, mayor of Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, made this statement while announcing five major innovation strategies for the next 100 years of Gimhae.
Mayor Hong explained, "Our city has fallen into a recession over the past five years due to the decline and stagnation of small-scale manufacturing and COVID-19, but as the second largest in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and population in the province, it is the geographical center of the southeastern region. It is also the optimal location for establishing a land, sea, and air tri-port and has great potential to expand as a logistics hub."

On that day, he presented the vision of "Building Gimhae as the Economic Capital of the Southeastern Region Preparing for the Next 100 Years" and proposed five major strategies and 14 key tasks.
These include ▲ transforming the industrial structure through corporate restructuring ▲ becoming a new growth industry hub by focusing on strategic industries ▲ creating a youth-friendly and youth startup hub ▲ building Gimhae as a special investment-attractive city ▲ and developing a city specialized in the livelihood economy.
Accordingly, the plan includes fostering 20 G-Leading companies intensively, establishing a one-stop corporate support system, nationalizing five strategic industries as regional bases, attracting the Gyeongnam Youth Startup Hub, creating the nation’s first comprehensive youth startup testbed, establishing seven global specialized industrial complexes, attracting over 1.3 trillion KRW in investment annually, and creating seven specialized streets.
The city plans to promote the tasks included in the five major strategies as core projects of the 8th local government administration and will work on reflecting them in government plans and securing national funding.
Mayor Hong said, "In an era of concentration in the metropolitan area, new vitality is needed for local economies to survive. We will make this year the first year of achieving our vision and strive to revitalize the stagnant regional economy through five core projects."
