The county promotes the school meal eco-friendly agricultural products and Non-GMO ingredients support project to secure stable sales channels for eco-friendly agricultural product producers and to promote healthy physical development of growing students.

The support targets are a total of 82 institutions including daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary, middle, and high schools, with 6,943 students.

The total project cost is 1.7 billion KRW, supporting the price difference for purchasing eco-friendly agricultural products (organic rice, vegetables, fruits, etc.) and Non-GMO ingredients used in school meals.

Additionally, the county has newly allocated 160 million KRW in budget to reduce the burden on childcare facilities by supporting daycare centers and private kindergartens.

A county official said, “We will ensure stable supply of eco-friendly agricultural products and Non-GMO ingredients to daycare centers, kindergartens, and schools in the county according to the agenda selected through the School Meal Support Deliberation Committee,” and added, “We will do our best to strengthen the safety of school meals by conducting residue pesticide inspections regularly.”
