Gwangju Nam-gu Operates Programs Including 'Nalja! Exercise Class'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Juwol Health Living Support Center in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is recruiting participants to join the physical activity program to promote residents' health.


According to Nam-gu on the 13th, the Juwol Health Living Support Center will operate the first half physical activity health program over 12 weeks from March 13 to June 2.


The programs operated at this center are two types: ‘Nalja! Exercise Class’ and ‘Seungseung Janggu Exercise Class’.


Participants can reduce body fat and build muscle strength using small equipment, and will undergo training to improve cardiopulmonary endurance.


‘Nalja! Exercise Class’ is for health management of residents with physical obesity and is held every Monday and Wednesday, while ‘Seungseung Janggu Exercise Class’ is conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively for general residents' health promotion.


A pre- and post-survey conducted on last year's physical activity program participants showed that participating residents achieved exercise effects in all areas.


In the case of skeletal muscle mass, it improved from 19.89 kg to 20.60 kg, and body fat percentage decreased from 33.89% to 32.91%.


Also, muscle strength increased from 21.21 kg to 23.14 kg, and muscular endurance significantly increased from 17.13 to 21.50 repetitions.


Residents who wish to participate in ‘Nalja! Exercise Class’ and ‘Seungseung Janggu Exercise Class’ can visit the Juwol Health Living Center to submit an application form or apply by phone by the 2nd of next month.


Participant selection will be finalized through a resident observer lottery system on March 3, and selected residents will be notified individually via text message.
