Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam signed a business agreement with Save the Children Korea to promote children's rights.
Save the Children is an international relief and development NGO operating in about 120 countries worldwide with 30 member countries, transcending race, religion, and political ideology to realize children's rights to survival, protection, development, and participation. It was founded in London, UK in 1919 under the goal that children should be respected as 'autonomous individuals' rather than weak objects of protection, and Save the Children Korea was established in 1981 and has been actively engaged in activities.
The main contents include ▲operating child safety programs at 10 daycare centers ▲supporting green remodeling for climate crisis response at 10 local children's centers ▲diagnosing and analyzing play environments at 48 playgrounds within children's parks, ensuring children's basic rights through various projects to raise awareness of children's rights.
The city plans to cooperate mutually to create a better child-friendly environment in Changwon, a city in its second year of child-friendly city certification, by adhering to the principle of 'the best interests of the child.'
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "We expect this agreement to greatly contribute to the happy growth and rights promotion of children. We will all work together to ensure that all children, without exception, are guaranteed their rights."
