Hapcheon-gun to Host the 2023 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament

Participation of Over 1,400 Players from High School Soccer Teams Nationwide

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that it will host the '2023 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament' for 14 days from the 14th to the 27th at the artificial turf stadium of the Gunmin Sports Park.

Hosted by the Korea Football Association and organized by the Gyeongsangnam-do Football Association and Hapcheon-gun Football Association, and sponsored by Hapcheon-gun, Hapcheon-gun Council, and Hapcheon-gun Sports Council, this tournament will feature 39 high school soccer teams nationwide with over 1,400 players participating.

The tournament divides the 39 teams into 10 groups and conducts the preliminary round as a group league until the 18th. The top two teams from each group, totaling 20 teams, will compete in a knockout tournament until the finals to determine the champion. Matches will be held every other day except for the semifinals on the 25th, with a total of 76 games played until the final at 12 PM on the 27th.

Unlike the '2022 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament,' which was held without spectators due to COVID-19, this tournament is expected to attract many visitors to Hapcheon, anticipating a significant economic boost.

Hapcheon-gun expects an economic ripple effect of approximately 1.5 billion KRW in the local economy during the tournament period, and considering the teams that participated in winter training camps and stove leagues in Hapcheon to prepare for the tournament, the economic impact of hosting the event is even greater.
