Incheon Yeonsu-gu, Promotion of Health Drink Delivery Support Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, is conducting a 'Health Drink Delivery Support Project' targeting 330 high-risk single-person households to address the issue of solitary deaths, which has recently expanded to include middle-aged and older adults.
According to the district on the 12th, this project involves health drink delivery managers from partner companies visiting single-person households, such as elderly living alone and middle-aged individuals facing difficulties in daily life due to economic crises and social isolation, three times a week to deliver drinks and check on their well-being.
If the delivered drinks remain untouched or any abnormal signs are detected, the delivery managers immediately notify the social welfare officers at the local administrative welfare centers to promptly check the condition of the recipients and respond to any potential crisis situations.
In fact, last November, a delivery manager who noticed a recipient appearing unwell during a drink delivery immediately informed the local officer, enabling the person to be hospitalized, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solitary death prevention project.
Lee Jaeho, mayor of Yeonsu-gu, stated, "We plan to appoint 52 health drink delivery managers, who have close contact with neighborhood residents, as honorary social welfare officers," adding, "We will strive to build a more robust human safety network within the community to create a Yeonsu-gu free of solitary deaths."
