"Merely a Bargaining Tool for Personal Gain"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Yong-tae, a candidate for the Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, criticized fellow candidates Kim Jae-won and Cho Su-jin on the 12th, saying, "'The position of Supreme Council member' is not a concept of serving party members and the public, but rather a bait to secure one's own nomination."
On the same day, Kim wrote on Facebook, "Based on the actions seen in the previous leadership, if these individuals enter the next leadership, wouldn't they use resignation from the Supreme Council member position as a weapon to shake the party leadership if their future nomination does not go well?" He added, "The elected position created by party members and the public is merely a bargaining tool for their personal gain."
He also stated, "Ultimately, the root of all problems is the cunning attempt to seek nominations by colluding with power without considering the people," emphasizing, "This is exactly why a bottom-up nomination process, where party members and the public directly select candidates to run in their regions, is necessary."
He then pointedly remarked, "Even if candidate Kim Ki-hyun becomes party leader, if those individuals become Supreme Council members, is there any law that says we won't return to a provisional emergency committee system again?"
