Link by Green: Promoting the Creation of a Green Network Connected Everywhere
Establishing a Green Walking Axis Plan Connecting the Entire District with ‘1 Loop, 3 Green Axes’
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has initiated the establishment of the Gwanak Green Network and green walking axis plan to expand park green spaces within the city and connect fragmented green areas, providing a walking environment where green spaces can be encountered and enjoyed anywhere.
Although Gwanak-gu is rich in natural resources such as Gwanaksan Mountain and Byeolbitnaeruncheon (Dorimcheon Stream), park green facilities are concentrated mainly in the southern part of the district. Additionally, due to urban development projects such as the 1970s land readjustment project, major green axes along the foothills of Gwanaksan have been fragmented, making systematic management of park green resources necessary.
Accordingly, the district is conducting the ‘Gwanak Green Network and Green Walking Axis Plan Establishment Project’ and has determined the need for a planned guideline to establish a park green system and create a walking-centered green network linking natural resources. The plan envisions ‘1 Loop, 3 Green Axes’ connecting green spaces throughout the entire district and will establish a systematic green network plan including directions for green space supply.
This plan focuses on laying the foundation for a green walking axis that is connected and accessible everywhere, and aims to form a metropolitan green linkage system by considering park green plans of adjacent districts (Geumcheon, Dongjak, Seocho, etc.).
Additionally, on the 23rd, a workshop will be held with the ‘Gwanak-gu Premium City Resident Participation Group’ to create a green walking axis that local residents desire, providing a venue for gathering residents’ opinions and communication.
A district official stated, “We will establish a concrete and feasible plan reflecting the opinions of residents and experts,” and added, “We will do our best to lay the foundation for the Gwanak Green Network and green walking axis circulating throughout the district to realize a green welfare city.”
