Controversy Over Poster Supporting Chun Haram for People Power Party Leader
Highlighted Letters Spark Sexual Harassment Debate
Jun Yeo-ok Criticizes: "Reviving the Sexual Favors Scandal?"
A poster supporting Chun Haram's bid for party leader, posted by former People Power Party leader Lee Junseok on his Facebook account, has become embroiled in a sexual harassment controversy.
On February 8, Lee posted several posters supporting Chun on Facebook, writing, "Let's go, this is just the beginning. Let's make it happen ourselves."
The poster features the phrase, "You must vote for Chun Haram to protect free political speech."
Only the first syllables of the words "Chun," "Pick," "Ja," and "Ji" are highlighted in red.
Comments on Lee's Facebook post included, "It would be better to take this down," and "That's so typical of O-stone."
Former Saenuri Party lawmaker Jun Yeo-ok criticized Lee's post, referencing past allegations of sexual favors involving Lee.
On February 10, Jun wrote on Facebook, "'Forgotten Jundol is rebroadcasting the 'forgotten wounds' in vivid detail," and added, "Party members are reminded of the painful 'Jundol trauma.'"
She continued, "Is this attention-seeking on purpose? It's a last-ditch effort and noise marketing to revive the 'Lee Junseok sexual favors scandal.'"
Meanwhile, in the main race for the People Power Party's March 8 leadership election, not only candidates Kim Gi-hyeon and Ahn Cheol-soo, but also Hwang Kyo-ahn and Chun Haram-known to be aligned with Lee Junseok-have advanced.
