Seoul City Strengthens 'Employment of Persons with Disabilities' in Public Institutions under the City

Promotion of Customized Support Measures for Investment and Affiliated Institutions

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the 12th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will promote support measures such as 'customized consulting' and 'mandatory employment briefing sessions for persons with disabilities' to enable investment and foundation institutions under the city to smoothly employ persons with disabilities. The city plans to actively support the employment of persons with disabilities in public institutions by conducting disability employment consulting tailored to the characteristics of investment and foundation institutions.

This year, following last year, the city will collaborate with the Disability Job Center and Career Plus Center, a developmental disability employment consulting agency, to provide customized consulting such as job analysis and employment diagnosis.

The city plans to prioritize consulting for institutions that require mandatory employment of persons with disabilities in the first half of this year, and will continue to monitor the employment rate of persons with disabilities in other institutions and provide consulting accordingly.

In addition, for institutions where direct employment of persons with disabilities is limited due to the nature of public institution work, related consulting will be conducted to enable the use of the 'Disability Linked Employment Burden Reduction System.'

On the 10th, the city held a 'Mandatory Employment Briefing Session for Persons with Disabilities' for recruitment and contract officers of city investment and foundation institutions to share these support measures and provide guidance on the mandatory employment system.

Su-yeon Lee, Welfare Planning Officer of Seoul City, said, “Employment of persons with disabilities instills pride and economic independence in the individuals themselves and realizes the value of living together in our society,” adding, “Seoul City and public institutions will strive to realize安心ㆍ동행복지 where persons with disabilities can work comfortably.”
