Lotte Department Store announced on the 12th that it will present a special exhibition for singles in celebration of Valentine’s Day at ‘Next Museum,’ the first offline NFT exhibition hall in the distribution industry.
Next Museum is an NFT exhibition hall opened last December in Jamsil Lotte World Mall through a collaboration between Lotte Department Store and Ground X, a Kakao blockchain technology affiliate. It was planned to create a new platform that allows easy offline experience of digital content and NFTs.
Next Museum, composed of a main exhibition space showcasing various works, an artist’s NFT art product exhibition, a brand’s special NFT exhibition, and a caf?, opened with the theme of ‘Fruit Island’ and has attracted great attention with an average daily visitor count exceeding one thousand.
The theme of this exhibition is ‘Valentine’s Day Side Story, Stories of Singles,’ featuring eight famous artists presenting diverse works. The exhibition runs until the 19th of next month. It showcases paintings and NFT-linked works themed around ‘singles,’ in collaboration with the global whiskey brand ‘Ballantine’s,’ and prepares events such as ‘Night of Singles.’
At the exhibition, eight artists?Rokan Kim, Local Setta, Jung Min-hee, Lee Dong-gu, Kim Wan-jin, Kim Mul-gil, Jung Eun-bi, and Childistic?select their own keywords such as color, silhouette, and space based on the theme of ‘singles,’ and exhibit physical art pieces and NFTs. Additionally, the exhibition poster created as artwork will be airdropped as an NFT, and customers who receive the NFT will be given scratch lottery tickets that allow them to enjoy various events and benefits at Next Museum.
Products collaborated with the whiskey brand Ballantine’s single malt Glenburgie are also available. Part of the exhibition space is dedicated to Ballantine’s single malt, where artists Rokan Kim, Local Setti, and Jung Min-hee present paintings and digital works inspired by Glenburgie’s 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskeys. These works are reinterpreted as special art packages and NFTs, exclusively offered at Next Museum.
Events for singles have also been prepared. On the 14th, 17th, and 24th of this month, ‘Night of Singles’ events will be held, selling various NFT works by the artists, including limited edition packages reinterpreted by the artists for Ballantine’s single malt Glenburgie 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskey products. On Valentine’s Day itself, master chocolatier Lee Soo-yeol from Bintuba Chocolate will perform a live demonstration of the tempering process for making ‘Single Origin Bintuba Chocolate.’ The ‘Night of Singles’ events run from 6 PM to 9 PM and are open only to customers who apply through the official ‘Next Museum’ Instagram account.
Kim Ji-hyun, Head of Marketing & Communications at Lotte Department Store, said, “As a new experiential exhibition hall combining shopping and NFTs, we prepared an unusual themed exhibition rather than a typical event for Valentine’s Day. Going forward, Next Museum will continue to introduce various contents that customers have not easily experienced to provide diverse shopping experiences.”
