China's Consumer Prices Rise 2.1% in January

[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Kim Hyunjung] China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January rose 2.1% year-on-year, the National Bureau of Statistics announced on the 10th.

The increase was larger than the previous month's figure (1.8%), but fell short of experts' expectations (2.2%).

The Producer Price Index (PPI) for January fell 0.8% year-on-year. The decline exceeded both the previous month's figure (-0.7%) and experts' forecast (-0.5%).
