[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-seon] Yeungnam University students now have the opportunity to study at the prestigious European university, the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
Yeungnam University announced on the 10th that “an agreement for student and faculty exchange with the University of Copenhagen was signed on the 6th.”
The University of Copenhagen is a public comprehensive university located in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, and is a world-renowned university ranked 79th in the 2022 university rankings by the British QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a global university evaluation organization.
Founded in 1479 by a papal bull, it is the second oldest university in the Nordic region after Uppsala University (established in 1477) in Sweden.
According to the agreement, each university will select three students annually to be sent as exchange students to the partner university. Students sent abroad will pay tuition at their home university, and tuition at the host university will be waived.
Yeungnam University will cover the Korean language institute tuition fees for University of Copenhagen students coming to Yeungnam University.
Starting with the agreement with the University of Copenhagen, Yeungnam University plans to expand exchanges with prestigious European universities.
In the first half of this year, Yeungnam University plans to sign a student exchange agreement with Ca'Foscari University of Venice, a public university located in Venice, Italy, and is also discussing exchange agreements with the University of Naples L'Orientale located in Naples, Italy.
Yeungnam University’s Director of International Affairs, Yeo Taek-dong, said, “Currently, Yeungnam University has exchange agreements with 500 universities and institutions in 59 countries worldwide, strengthening its global education and research network. Yeungnam University is a truly global campus where international students from all over the world study,” adding, “We hope Yeungnam students will develop their global competencies not only through overseas dispatch programs but also by engaging in various exchange activities with foreign students studying at Yeungnam University.”
