Hyundai Motor Group Donates $2 Million for Earthquake Relief in Turkiye

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 10th that it will provide $2 million in relief funds to T?rkiye and Syria, which were affected by the earthquake.


The donated funds will be delivered through the Korean Red Cross and used for local relief activities and damage recovery. A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "We send our condolences to the people of T?rkiye and Syria who suffered great damage from the sudden earthquake and hope this will help with the speedy recovery, even if only a little."

Separately from this donation, Hyundai Motor's local subsidiary in T?rkiye (HAOS) became the first Korean company to announce support measures and is engaging in emergency relief activities. It is providing 250,000 euros for life-saving equipment such as cutters and grinders needed for rescue at buried sites, and 250,000 euros for daily necessities for disaster victims, including food, hygiene products, and cold-weather supplies.


In addition, repair costs for earthquake-damaged vehicles not covered by insurance and regular inspection fees for vehicles in disaster areas will be discounted by 50%.


As a member of the international community, Hyundai Motor Group has supported overseas large-scale disasters with donations and daily necessities, including Hurricane Ian in the United States last year, the 2018 Indonesia earthquake and tsunami, and heavy rains in Peru and Colombia in 2017.
