Discussion on Practical Training, Facility Equipment Inspection, and Talent Development Plans
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is accelerating its future marine mobility talent development project.
On the 10th at 2 p.m., Ulsan City will hold the "2nd Practical Meeting for Smart Marine Mobility Talent Development Project" in the large conference room on the 4th floor of the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency.
This meeting is the second gathering to discuss the establishment and operation of a joint training center for marine mobility workforce development, following the onboard practical meeting held on January 26 on the "Ulsan Taehwa-ho" with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Ulsan City.
It was arranged to discuss detailed project plans and promotion measures regarding the issues raised by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries at the January meeting.
About 20 industry-academia-research stakeholders will attend, including Ulsan City, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Korea Maritime and Ocean University Training Institute, Korea Maritime Institute, Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Ship & Offshore Plant Research Institute, Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering, KSS Marine, Humax Mobility, Geosoft, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Mokpo National Maritime University, and Ulsan College of Science.
The main discussion topics include ▲ smart marine mobility talent development (smart ships, control, explosion-proof, autonomous navigation) ▲ discussion on linking education between innovation institutions and universities.
Ulsan City will explain plans for developing future marine mobility talent linked with the existing facility infrastructure of regional innovation institutions and request active support from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
Ulsan City plans to compile the results of the 2nd practical meeting and visit central government ministries such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to hold consultations and secure national funding for new projects next year.
After the meeting, participants will tour the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, which has equipment such as ship bridge simulators and control systems used for education.
A Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official said, "This is a place where regional innovation institutions, shipping companies, specialized enterprises, and universities form a consensus on talent development for future marine mobility." He added, "We will promote specific workforce development plans and commercialization according to Ulsan City's future marine mobility talent development project plan."
